THE ABSURD TIMES
THE REPTILIAN CORTEX
Today’s Republican Party
A strange Title

Believe me, I never thought it was possible to start out a column with such a title: TAYLOR SWIFT AND TRAVIS KELSEY. Sure, a famous singer and a popular gladiator together. It seems actually normal and to be expected in today’s world. When we have a disgraced, twice impeached, indicted on 91 criminal charges in at least four courts wondering if he would have to wear an orange jumpsuit, combined with other things we have noted previously and those below, it should be entirely predictable. It makes complete sense and that is the very reason it could not be predicted. One might as well predict a sunrise the next day. She did say “This is not the party of your fathers.” Just to add again, no, it is the reptilian cortex.
Well now, we enter the world of cyber scams. It seems that those ‘services’ figure that if people are gullible to send bits and pieces of their Social Security and disability checks to the man in orange for a photo of his mugshot on a coffee cup, they will do the same for anyone who asks them. Anyway, let us review the idiocy that runs rampant and the gullible gabble as they share their bits and pieces wherever it is demanded, or begged, or whined for pitifully enough for “services” they recently provided as part of the original agreement.
Surprisingly, the least ridiculous of them all is Elon Musk and his Pink Elephant that is Twitter and now X. That’s right, X. It seems strange to start off with this and then assure you that I am not making up any of this, everything is fact and real, as I just lack the talent to fantasize and produce the insanity that is actually chronicled (actually, ‘listed’ or ‘written’ below). He apparently is considering or planning to charge people to use his X. No money, no X. The point is, one can simply not use X and thus not give him money. Now that’s a bargain given some other schemes in the mix.
Of course, as usual, we will move back and forth between the main topic (Cyber Scams) and whatever happens anywhere else. For example, what about the unfortunate bus driver? The poor guy has to spend days, perhaps months, to complete a simple 2-hour route because of all the people other people are throwing under his vehicle. The poor guy needs to start a union and fight back as nobody else seems to care about his end of the situation.
So, this entire thing, for me anyway, started out with Spotify. Spotify offered a three-month introduction to their ad-free service. If you decided it was not worth it to you before then, just unsubscribe and that was the end of it. Well, by the second month I could tell that I was not going to continue, so I attempted to unsubscribe. Well, they had my card and the account and went ahead to take the fee for the third month, ignoring all my efforts to communicate that I quit.
It continued, and they started to take the full fee the next month. I kept trying to stop this and finally resorted to contacting the bank in question. For some reason, they could not stop the process but came up with a solution. Shut down the account. Maybe start another one and be less gullible forthwith. I had already gone so far in attempts to avoid this to find out that they operated out of Denmark and that federal authorities had no control over them. So, never again I decided as I had to change many arrangements as a result.
WTF? I thought it was pretty straightforward that males had no part in regulating personal health and physical processes a woman faces with an unwanted pregnancy. It is their body, so it is their decision – right? Well, it seems that we all have a stake in monitoring every woman’s womb because of our status as a “former fetus”. No, I think I have already established that I could not invent that point. So, as a “former fetus,” I think abortion is all too often a good idea. Many a former fetus has been completely disgusting.
Shortly after I recounted my own experience with Spotify (which I had published to little effect), just within a few hours I learned via mass mainstream media one of those news bulletins that at least 2 million members of Amazon Prime were victims of a nearly identical scam. I knew of one who had quit Amazon Prime, but he was not typical as he was aware of the process. It seems quite clear that Amazon was continuing to deduct cash from the accounts of those who had quit, it has stopped for all to provide their early incentives (including access to their streaming platform) and left the customers relatively powerless to escape further scams. The remedy I found, which is to close the account and open a new one, either does not occur or, as is just as likely, re-establishing connections with trusted agencies.
A similar situation developed with a former President, disgraced, twice impeached, and facing 91 counts of crimes in various indictments. It happened with Trump University. I know of no person with a diploma from Trump University, however.
The news item never appeared again, anywhere, but the details are available from over 2 million sources if only you could 1) find them and 2) have them complain directly to you. Since the company is a huge source of revenue, an ad-supported search engine will not help.
A while ago, a similar one-time-only report came out. Since our governors or government, decided that the 80% vote in Crimea was unfavorable to us, reporters were anxious to get testimonials on the subject. One such person said ”Oh yes, I voted to join the Russian Federation. I will get 4 times the salary fr the exact same work as previously.” That only appeared once. The fact that Nikita Kruschev was born there has not been mentioned since. Er, where was Stalin born?
Recently, I tried to contact Microsoft. They said they could help for only $1, REFUNDABLE, if I wanted. Now, what, I wondered, would that accomplish for them? Refundable? Ah, yes, that would give them full access to my banking codes. I am now told that these are third-party interlopers, which may be true, but that only leaves the question of why Microsoft allows this to happen. Any ideas?
Another issue akin to throwing people under the bus appears to me as strange as saying this matter is “off the table”. Now, where the hell is this damn table? What is still on it that you had to take things off of it?
Finally, things no longer increase. There is no sudden rise in anything. All we ever face are “upticks”. It is either a reference to a watch or an insect that seems to be attracted to canines. It is now what happens in crime, inflation, prices, rape (a category of crime on its own), and serial killings as well as MAGA miscues.
To conclude with the opening, Taylor Swift mentioned that “today’s Republicans are not the Republicans of your father”. She is right about that. They seem to be the reptilian cortex of that late political party, as mentioned. What could be worth asking in the “debate” of the 27th is “Donald called for the death of Mark Milley, his former Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Yes or no: do you agree?”
Finally, nobody has an agreement these days: they “INK” a deal.
