THE ABSURD TIMES
ISRAEL AND ISLAND OF FOOLS

Sometimes I wonder why I bother at all, but this keeps going on. It has become so weird that even Israelis themselves are fed up – you may have wondered why so many were out in the streets waving the 6 pointed stars. They are fed up. See, they do have a Supreme Court that sometimes rules appropriately, and it is considering the case of Benjamin Netanyahu. Now he will likely be found guilty, so he and his buddies tried to pass a law that took away the power of the court to make a ruling that he didn’t like. It should indicate to us what Donald might try to do as President if his cases, his many cases, get to our Supreme Court. See, Ben and Donny get along fine – so much so that Ben wanted to rename the Golan Heights the Trump Heights. [I kid you not.]
Now, I am posting these now because I am currently occupied with other matters, but did feel that I should post something of value for this week and by next week I should have something rather amusing for you.
I do think these are of interest and can shed a bit of optimism:
Managing to post this has been a very strange experience. It took several times to be able to add the following:
This is part of what has been going on in the world as the Speaker of the House, whose own party thinks of him as somewhat of an idiot, visits Netanyahu in Israel.
You may remember an impressive number of Jews waving six-pointed star flags as they gathered on the streets there. They were protesting a move by that Prime Minister to rewrite the laws so that he and his party could over-rule any decision by the Supreme Court there. Netanyahu is facing several charges in that court which is currently as authoritative as the Parliament that he runs. If he is convicted (which seems likely) he could then simply declare the verdict as meaningless.
Now, he and Trump are really buddies. In fact, he once proposed renaming the Golan Heights of Syria as “TRUMP HEIGHTS”, a ridiculous, and hence likely desire. Imagine, then, Donald becoming President. He might decide to reduce our three branches of government to two, eliminating the Supreme Court whenever he disliked one of its decisions. Would he ever dare to do that? *Snort*
The following is from the Jewish Voice for Peace, a humanistic and sane organization that is therefore bypassed as often as possible by rich and powerful media here in the States.
The second one is from one of many also non-profit organizations dedicated to the Palestinian right to exist, a right not recognized by any Zionist anywhere.

Breaking News: Liege, Belgium, Cuts Ties with Israel.
I
Barcelona. Oslo. And now Liege. The Belgian city has become the third in Europe to sever ties with Israel over its apartheid crimes against Palestinians.
The motion, which came about through the tireless work of local organizers, accuses Israel of “apartheid, colonization, and military occupation,” and specifically references the Nakba — both the 1948 mass expulsion of Palestinians from their homes in 1948, and Israel’s ongoing catastrophic human rights abuses and violations of international law.
Liege’s motion calls for a national boycott of Israeli goods and services produced in “the occupied Palestinian territories,” as well as urging other cities around the world to follow its principled example.
While largely a symbolic move — Liege has no official ties with Israel — such actions draw attention to the global movement for boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS), and show that refusing complicity with apartheid Israel is possible and powerful.
It’s in recognition of that power that Zionist organizations came after Barcelona’s Mayor Ada Colau after she announced her city would be cutting ties with Israel. Despite public pressure from Spain’s largest Zionist Jewish organizations, as well as members of her own city council, Mayor Colau stood strong. JVP expressed our support of her courageous resolution by taking out an ad in Spain’s biggest newspaper — which was used in hearings to show that her decision had enthusiastic international support.
These European cities’ refusal to have dealings with an apartheid regime shows the world that Israel’s legitimacy is eroding precipitously. Barcelona, Oslo, Liege... The list will no doubt keep growing.
Take action now
Liege’s motion comes in the lead-up to the 75th anniversary of the Nakba — the 1948 mass expulsion of Palestinians from their ancestral lands. JVP’s next Power Hour for Palestine, on May 11 at 3 pm ET, will be a special hour-long gathering to come together and connect with others ready to take action around this anniversary of the catastrophe. We’ll learn the latest, take action, and be in the community — together.

Dear Nick,
Three years ago, the Jewish National Fund (JNF) attacked USCPR’s advocacy for Palestinian human rights and our broader movement with a baseless lawsuit. Already dismissed in our favor, the lawsuit nonetheless dragged on.
Now, we won, again! The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals threw out the JNF’s embarrassingly ridiculous lawsuit, calling the allegations “nothing more than guilt by association.” This moment affirms our bold work for Palestinian liberation—and the fact justice is on our side.
Over the past three years, your steadfast commitment to USCPR allowed us to stay focused on our work: struggling together toward justice and freedom for the Palestinian people. Thank you so much for your critical support, Nick.
Let’s rededicate ourselves to this fight, until liberation and return.
Because you and I both know this won’t be the last lawfare case targeting Palestinian rights advocates. And as Israel ramps up repression, bombing Gaza last night after causing the death of defiant hunger-striking Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan, we must keep fighting.
This lawsuit was meant to silence us, so let’s raise our voices loud. Share this news on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, or by forwarding this email.
Well, this has been a strange experience, trying to get this posted, that is.
